AI Shadow via API issue

Hi, we’ve been experiencing issues with AI Shadow – very inconsistent, sometimes turns out terrible (e.g. whole image background gray). For batch processing for some clients we need to use PixelCut shadow, as it’s more consistent and allows better control. Still, we prefer your background removal model:-) About a year ago, you mentioned you worked on AI Shadow 2.0. I can see it’s implemented in Photoroom iOS app. Any chance of calling it via API?

Thanks for flagging this with us. Could you please share with us the following information so that we can look into this for you?

Input image and Output image result where you are experiencing issues, and the API params you’ve been using?

We have a newer model that might solve for this but would like to investigate first on our end.

Thank you for getting back to me. Via API we call AI shadows soft, hard and floating, most of our users keep the default setting “soft”. There are three issues:

  1. The shadow is unpredictable (it seems to take lighting into account, but two products photographed under the same light conditions can result in totally different AI shadows).

2. The shadow sometimes “spills out” and fills half of the image with grey color.

3. There is no control over shadow parameters such as with PixelCut API or Photoroom app.

We’d really love to get API access to your new shadow model. And anything you have available for testing – video generation, lifestyle backgrounds, virtual try-ons etc.
