We are currently considering developing an image editing service for enterprise use.
In the development of this service, we plan to use only Photoroom’s “Remove Background API”.
If we use it for commercial purposes, is subscribing to the “Basic” or higher API plan alone sufficient?
Or do we also need to subscribe to the “Pro” or higher Editor plan?
Specifically, we would like to confirm whether it is acceptable to use the API for commercial purposes while keeping the Editor plan on the Free tier.
Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in using our Remove Background API in your enterprise service.
If you are only using the Remove Background API (and not the web or mobile Editor), then subscribing to a Basic API plan or higher is sufficient for commercial use (depending on your volumes, you might consider a higher plan). The API subscription is separate from the Web Editor subscription, so you do not need to upgrade your Editor plan from Free unless you also want access to Pro-level Editor features.
Here are the two separate pricing pages for reference:
Good question — if you’re only using the Remove Background API, the Basic API plan or higher should cover commercial use. The Editor plan isn’t required unless you’re using the editor itself. Still, it’s best to confirm with Photoroom support to be sure.
